The Greater Manchester Autism Consortium (GMAC) needed more than a website. They needed a digital home for one of the most important communities in the region.

Their existing online presence wasn’t doing justice to the breadth of support, services, and information available to autistic people and their families across Greater Manchester.

The scale of the project was significant. The site needed to serve a wide range of users, from parents of newly diagnosed children to autistic adults navigating services independently to professionals working across the sector.

Our team approached the build with that diversity of users in mind from the very start, structuring information by geography so people could quickly find what’s relevant to where they live, and designing a navigation experience that is calm, clear, and easy to follow.

My Area: A directory page that allows users to select their local council borough to find specific events, support and local public resources.

Quick Links and Assessment Information: A navigation and guidance section that categorises support resources into distinct topics, helping users quickly find relevant information and assessment guidelines.

Because our team includes neurodivergent designers and developers who have navigated similar services themselves, we knew what to prioritise: plain language, logical structure, minimal visual noise, and a site that doesn’t make you work hard to find the basics.

The result is a comprehensive, accessible resource that genuinely serves the community it was built for.

“SENDCode have been incredible partners in our mission to update the GM Autism website. Over 12 months they worked patiently and meticulously despite our lack of experience in commissioning a website. The work felt like true collaboration, and we are delighted with the final version of the website. It was also really meaningful to know that the team working on this were neurodivergent themselves. Thank you to the team for all of their hard work.”
